SOLVING EURO 6 CHARGING PROBLEMS

THE CHALLENGE

For many trade professionals, their work vehicle is not just a way of getting from one job to another, it’s considered more of a working tool. Often, it’s fully equipped with accessories and equipment to act as a running workshop, office and storage facility too!

And to make sure that this vital piece of equipment meets all of the needs of the trade professional, many manufacturers offer their customers the opportunity to select from a range of other optional accessories for installation in the import harbour.

This very often involves fitting extra batteries that supply inverters, lightning and other equipment. In these cases, an important consideration is a solution to ensure that the extra battery is recharged and maintained whilst driving and that any equipment connected to the battery has the power it needs. With Euro 6 vehicles using smart alternators, a DC-DC onboard charging system compatible with Euro 6 technology is particularly important. Smart alternators deliver a variable out-put and are shut off when they’re not needed.

“We have been delighted by the response our DC-DC onboard booster packs from the vehicle  manufacturers.”
- Henrik Ingemansson, CEO and founder of AWIMEX

CTEK partner AWIMEX, a well-respected specialist in in-vehicle power management works closely with manufacturers such as VW, to provide them with extra batteries and DC-DC onboard power management solutions.

THE SOLUTION

AWIMEX offers a variety of DC-DC onboard booster packs that include installation material, such as cables, ring terminals, fuses, fuse holders as well as the CTEK D250SA and SMARTPASS 120 power units to deliver up to 140A of power whilst on the move. The CTEK system solves any smart alternator compatibility problems, it will still operate even if the smart alternator is shut off, maintaining a stable output to fully charge the extra battery in the shortest time. AWIMEX can customise their packs to match the specific requirements of any make or model of work vehicle and code them to work with existing manufacturer ordering systems.

“We have sold over 500 pcs in the first 12 months.”

With Euro 6 vehicles using smart alternators, a DC-DC charger system is necessary to achieve sufficient charging to an extra battery installed and to supply equipment connected to the battery while running the vehicle.

THE RESULT

The DC-DC solutions from CTEK have proven to solve the charging problems with extra batteries installed in EURO 6 vehicles. This is a big relief for the professional users.

The partnership between CTEK and AWIMEX focusing on the aftermarket of commercial vehicles has just started but has already proven to be successful and the future looks promising with more interesting projects in the pipe.

“We very often equip vehicles with large inverters running off an extra battery. To get the system functioning we must use the D250SA and Smartpass 120 from CTEK givning 140 A charging capacity and which are included in our Booster packs. It solves the problem with charging the extra battery.”
