CTEK - a key cog in the growing need for charging stations in the mountains
Kläppen Ski Resort is Sweden's largest family-owned ski resort and the first resort you reach in Sälen if you’re coming from the south by car. It’s also a popular summer destination, where visitors can experience everything from hiking and canoeing to mountain biking and disc golf.
With more and more visitors each season driving electric cars, there is a growing need for charging stations in the peaks and mountains of Dalarna.
The housing associations in Kläppen, together with Kalema E-Mobility AB, Kläppen's partner for electric car charging, have therefore chosen to install several charging points from CTEK.
“Generally speaking, charging points are something of a hard sell in the mountain world,” says Martin Götesson, CEO of Kalema E-Mobility AB, the company that carried out the installations. ”There aren’t many charging points here, but at the same time, we see that the need is increasing as more and more people get electric cars. And that’s one of the reasons Kläppen has taken the initiative to invest in charging infrastructure together with local housing associations,"
The installation of the charging stations in Kläppen has been quite complex, explains Martin Götesson.
“The power supply has not always been optimal and lead times can be a little longer. Often, the future need for pipes and ducts has not been taken into account when new housing has been built. It has been a complex journey, but we've solved it!
Kalema E-Mobility AB has so far installed around 40 charging stations in Kläppen and, together with other players in the market, the total number of charging points in the resort is probably higher.
"We’ve chosen to install CTEK CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2 charge points with dual sockets of 11kW. In addition, we’ve added load balancing, either applied locally or through CTEK’s ‘grid central’, depending on the electricity supply. "

And there are more reasons for choosing CTEK as a supplier, according to Martin Götesson. Among other things, he points out that CTEK chargers are compatible and reliable and, as CTEK is a local company based in Vikmanshyttan in Dalarna, products are manufactured in the local area!
