CASE STUDY | EV Charging | Sweden's largest private sawmill invests in EV charging infrastructure

Case Study | EV Charging

The family-owned company Fiskarhedens Trävaru AB in Dalarna started in 1923 and today, with more than 150 employees, it is one of the largest sawmills in the country. Recently, Fiskarheden chose to install charging infrastructure at the sawmill. The purpose is to make it easier for staff and visitors who drive electric cars and plug-in hybrids. A strategic investment for the future, according to the company.

- "Society is being electrified and our employees will increasingly drive electric cars. We want to make it easier for them to choose an environmentally friendly car. Employers who want to create attractive workplaces will need to be able to offer charging facilities in the future," says Karl Lundevall, technical manager at Fiskarhedens Trävaru AB.

The installation has been done by E-Mobility, which sells, delivers and installs charging stations and solar panels to both private individuals and companies.

- We are based in Borlänge in Dalarna but are also active in neighbouring counties. In addition to installations of solar panels and electric car charging, we work with electrical installations, energy storage, IMD systems and other electrical and service work," says Martin Götesson, CEO of the company.

In the project, it was important for Fiskarheden to be able to offer maximum availability and at the same time have a well-functioning system. These were important reasons for choosing products from CTEK, believes Martin Götesson.

- E-Mobility and CTEK have been carrying out successful projects in the Sälen area for three years. The installation and the charging points have proved that they stand up well in our Nordic climate.

76 charging points

In total, E-Mobility and CTEK have installed 76 charging points at the Fiskarheden sawmill in Dalarna. There are also plans for a further 70 charging points at a later date. Fiskarheden chose to use CTEK Chargestorm Connected with both single and dual charging sockets.

- The chargers have an appreciated engine heater function integrated in both hardware and software, and all chargers can be controlled using an app. We have also used local load balancing. This is because the power available locally covers the need," says Martin Götesson.

The installation was at times complex and included several contractors. But good co-operation and good planning meant that the project stayed on schedule and delivered the required function.

- The project took about two months to complete as planned. Fiskarheden is a company with great internal expertise in both electricity and construction, which facilitated the work.

Fiskarheden has also been satisfied with the end result.

- The collaboration with E-mobility has worked very well. The installation went well and the whole process was smooth," says Dino Besic, Vice President at Fiskarheden.
