CTEK keeps adventurers out on the ice in the Swedish Lapland with MXS 5.0, CT5 POWERSPORT and CS FREE mobile chargers

Based in Arvidsjaur at the very heart of Swedish Lapland, Triple X Adventures is an exciting, forward thinking company offering a range of ice bound adventures and fun-packed experiences, including snowmobile tours and car ice drifting events for adrenaline junkies. 

Triple X also works with industry customers including AMG, Audi, Porsche and VW, who offer their own ice drifting experiences, as well as using the ice tracks to test prototype and road-ready vehicles, to establish how the brakes and other functions perform on the ice. 

Benni Fichtner from Triple X Adventures says: “Our drifting events take place on frozen lakes. We have everything from ice carts, side by side Yamaha buggies and Audi RS3s, and we work with German DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) racing driver Timo Scheider, with a modified 550 Horsepower Audi RS3, specially made for drifting on the ice.” 

“We have 15 CTEK MXS 5.0 chargers that we use every day on our large fleet of drift cars, to keep the batteries in good condition and charged to the right voltage. The MXS 5.0 has automatic temperature compensation built in, which makes them perfect for the extreme low temperatures we have up here in the North. The cars come into the garage, they get cleaned, then we plug them in overnight, and they’re ready for the next day.

“We also have five CTEK CT5 POWERSPORT chargers that we use on our snowmobiles. When you’re out in -25° temperatures, battery capacity is not so great, so regular charging is essential. All our snowmobiles are fitted with ‘CTEK Ready’ Comfort Connectors that hang out under the seats, which makes it super easy for us to bring them into the garage and plug them in without rebuilding the sled, having to remove seats, covers and so on. We just plug them in and they charge overnight, so the sleds are ready for the next day. This regular charging means that the batteries last longer too.”

“We also have 450 litre benzine tanks on our pick-up trucks to fuel the cars and snowmobiles on site, so we don’t have to get them to the gas station, and the pumps need power to deliver the fuel. We can hook the pumps up to the truck battery, but then we need to leave the vehicle running to avoid flattening the battery, and not all our pick-ups are prepared for giving that extra power, because the normal 12V batteries don’t work with the cables that come out of the tank. So we needed to find a different solution for this and, with the CS FREE, we just clamp it on to the fuel pump and we have power wherever we need it.

There’s always someone who wants to take pictures of course, then they find they’re low on battery or they didn’t charge their phones overnight, so we just get out the CS FREE and we can provide them with a powerbank that will last for days!”
