New Year, new EV charging rules for car park owners
The clock is ticking down towards new EU-wide rules on EV charging provision in commercial car park settings. From 1 January 2025 the EU directive on charge points in car parks takes effect, with new requirements for destinations that have car parks with a number of spaces above a certain threshold. The new rules are part of the broader Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which focuses on non-residential buildings with car parks.

CTEK, the Swedish manufacturer of battery charging solutions, will surprise visitors to this year's Automechanika in Frankfurt with a highlight. From 10 to 14 September 2024 , they can experience the latest CTEK products up close in Hall 8.0, Stand G40- and take a look at the legendary ‘Eleanor’ movie car. Eleanor is an original Ford Mustang from the film ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ with Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie. It is the last car that Cage is supposed to steal as Memphis Raines in order to free his brother from the clutches of a gang of car thieves. Chris Zöllner from ChromeCars will present Eleanor to the public together with CTEK’s CEO Henrik Fagrenius on Tuesday, 10 September at 11 am. Both will be available for interviews.

Nytt krav på laddboxar: Vad innebär det för fastighetsägare och företag?
Från och med den 1 januari 2025 träder nya regler i kraft som påverkar fastighetsägare och företag med fler än 20 parkeringsplatser. Dessa regler är en vidareutveckling av den lagstiftning som infördes redan 2021, vilken ställde krav på att alla nybyggda bostadshus med fler än tio parkeringsplatser skulle förberedas för laddinfrastruktur. Den nya lagen innebär att fastighetsägare och företag kommer behöva installera laddpunkter för att möta den växande efterfrågan på laddmöjligheter för elfordon. Detta är inte bara en juridisk skyldighet, utan också en möjlighet att bidra till omställningen till en grönare framtid.

How to charge a mild hybrid
Mild hybrids are vehicles equipped with both an internal combustion engine (ICE) and a small electric generator / motor, which assists the engine during starting, cruising or hard acceleration. The 48V battery which powers the hybrid system is recharged using the vehicles kinetic energy through regenerative braking. The generator captures the energy during coasting and braking to be stored and used for restarting the engine and acceleration. Even though the electrical system is recharged by generative breaking, you still need to charge the 12V battery. You need the 12V system for almost all of the functions in your car such as air conditioning, lights, opening of the doors, the radio, windows etc.

CTEK’s guide to avoid ghost faults in the workshop
When a vehicle arrives for fault-finding or repair, the first thing you will do in most cases is connect it to a diagnostic tool, to find out where the fault is. But if the battery is not supported and has low voltage, an incorrect error code may be reported by the diagnostic tool – this is known as a ‘ghost fault’. It happens because the vehicle is trying to protect the unsupported battery, which it does in many cases by shutting down the systems it does not really need, like the radio, the air conditioning, or the start/stop function – and that is recorded as a fault.
